Eleanor Lambert was a publicity agent in the Fashion business from the 1930s until fairly close to her passing at 100 in 2003. She was famous for her “turbans” and oversized jewelry. She founded the Met Gala, New York Fashion Week, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and The Best Dressed List. She discovered a young Halston. Miss Lambert had a hand in the creation of this book with author John Tiffany. She also was appointed by LBJ in 1965 to The National Council of the Arts. She also worked for European designers, such as Valentino and Pierre Cardin as their agent. She went to a clinic in Germany on many occasions and was given live cell therapy treatments, which she credited with keeping her energetic and youthful. Not surprising that she lived a century!! Before I started this business and one elsewhere, I worked as a housekeeper both in New York City in the 1970s, 80s and 90s and in Washington DC in the 90s, and 2000s. I actually met Eleanor Lambert, and cleaned for her once or twice, through an agency. I’m amazed that I have no memory of her, with her big personality, and looking at the pics of her 5th Avenue apartment, don’t recall that either, although that had to be the place I worked. She lived there until her death, from the 1940s Curiously she complained to the agency that she wasn’t pleased with my cleaning. You can’t win them all! I had many other amazing clients in both NYC and DC that were much more long term and wonderfully successful. The book is in good condition with some wear to the cover. (see my pics) Boards are very Secure. I always pack securely in a BOX, stuffed very thoroughly with tons of Bubble Wrap. I wrap Around and Around to secure it in place, so that hopefully it gets to you in the exact condition it left me in. (The rest is up to the PO) I provide FREE Priority Mail Shipping for this item, and it is Very heavy. A while back I sent 2 books separately from NYC/BRONX to Honolulu, using Priority, and they both arrived in only 3 days! Every sale Benefits myself and 2 charities: DREAM, here in NYC, (formerly known as Harlem RBI) and SHEPHERD’S TABLE, which is located just outside DC, in Silver Spring, Maryland. In the early 2000s I lived in Silver Spring, and volunteered at the TABLE for about 3 years. Whether I was serving meals (often desserts) or working on other tasks, for example putting together mailings to obtain much needed donations, I found it a Wonderful experience that I never forgot!! Typical donation to each Charity is between $100 and $150 per check. I just added a 3rd Charity: Houston Food Not Bombs! This wonderful Organization feeds the Hungry in their community 4 days a week. Local restaurants chip in by donating food to help their cause! They recently WON a Fabulous court VICTORY, which thankfully stopped the City of Houston from FINING THEM (not a typo) for handing out FOOD!! MB SILVER
