Technically skilled enthusiasts of the 1930s loved to race the legendary B.B. Korn cars around the club tracks. Called tether cars or spindizzies, they reached incredible speeds, and inspired thousands to improve and invent. The founder of the B.B. Korn Manufacturing Company, Barney Korn, produced several tether car models that now, as vintage antiques, achieve astounding sums at auction The impressive detail of this beautiful replica begins with an aluminum body, highlighted by a beautiful swept grille. The 21″ long model is top quality and heavy. It has solid aluminum wheels (including real rubber tires). Beneath the engine cover that lifts open is a non running replica of the Spindizzy engine with a massive side exhaust pipe. Beautifully offered in a 1:8 scale replica. This one goes way, way back to th 30’s where the hand-built, high-pitched whining racers were on display. Powered by a model airplane engine, the original models were stunningly capable of speeds of over 150 mph. These aerodynamic race cars thrilled fans as they raced on wooden tracks. Resembling the full-size racers of their day, several spindizzy’s competed at once, tethered by cables to a central pole. Re-live those glorious days with this hand-tooled collectible.
